MLAC’s Parenting Academy 2023: Healing the Family

September 28, 2023
Parenting Academy is an annual event organized by the MLAC Institute in line with its belief that “Parenting is Nation-Building”. This year’s theme is Healing the Family: Empowering the Family as a Protective Force in Children’s Mental Health. Dr. Honey Carandang, the president and founder of MLAC Institute is the speaker for the event, in a conversation with her son Dr. Chris Carandang.

This event was held the Mind Museum on September 2, 2023, from 9-11:30am, and as you can see in the video, we are grateful for the overwhelming support the in-person attendees gave, despite the inclement weather. This event is also extra special because of the launch of Filipino Children Under Stress: Family Dynamics and Therapy, as a DLSU Publishing House Classic, the first of its kind!

We are all gratified to come back to seeing you all again and feeling your inspiring energy! It was a sacred gathering of like-minded advocates of (children’s) mental health, professional and personal caregivers of children, and those giving their own inner child some much deserved love and attention.

Please watch and continue to learn from the pearls of wisdom from Dr Honey Carandang and everyone who participated in the fruitful discussion on healing the family.

We wish thank our sponsors of MLAC Institute, which will go beyond this Parenting Academy event. Thank you very much to Unilab, for being our partner through all these years. Our gratitude also to our supportive donors who are also thoroughly involved in our advocacy for parenting and nation-building and beyond, such as in bringing mindfulness, play therapy and expressive arts in communities across the country.

And to all of you, by attending and sharing this event, you are co-advocating #mentalhealthforall, bringing mental health and wellbeing support where it’s most needed
